My name is Jules, and I am a junior at UCLA studying music and trumpet performance. I have been playing trumpet for 11 years, studying and performing classical, orchestral, jazz, and pop music. At UCLA I study under the renowned James Ford III, who is a member of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. I also have received instruction from Jens Lindemann, Bobby Shew, Terell Stafford, Scott Wendholt, Bobby Rodriguez, and Jamey Aebersold's Summer Jazz Workshop, as well as from transcribing tons of trumpet styles via youtube. I have a deep understanding of trumpet fundamentals and can help players strengthen good habits to develop proper breathing, sound, range, and technique.
I specialize in jazz at UCLA and can teach advanced improvisational and soloing techniques, sight-reading, music theory, and ear-training as well.
Through classes I've taken at UCLA and an in depth Hyperbits music production course I've studied, I have also gained advanced knowledge in music production and am able to teach you how to produce radio-ready songs from scratch. I also have studied DJ’ing via transcribing festival performances of artists such as Zedd and Timmy Trumpet and via youtube and can teach a variety of beginner to intermediate DJ’ing/mixing techniques.
My instagram, @julesthetrumpeter, has examples of my trumpet playing, music production, and DJ’ing if you’d like to hear me in action.
I give every student my full attention and promise the lessons will be worth every penny!
