Piano, Voice, and Theater Lessns with Magda | (45 Minute Trial)

Voice, Piano, and Theatre Lessns

Hi! My name is Magda. I am a performer and a mezzo-soprano with a strong foundation in acting and vocal pedagogy.

I am a Polish-American dual citizen who grew up in California, Poland, Ghana, Maryland, Hungary, Uganda, and Kenya. I was an aspiring actress, so I sought out opportunities to learn about all the different performance practices that I could as I traveled: I have performed in the street theater festival in Avignon, sang in British pantomimes at the Ugandan National Theater, and performed Shakespeare at Juvenile Hall. I never thought I would make a very good musician, but Opera Theater was a prerequisite for voice lessons at my university. I tried everything I possibly could to get out of it, but to no avail. I ended up falling in love with it, and changing my major the next year.

Now I bring my knowledge of acting techniques and full body performance into my singing, using everything from Laban and Lecoq to Hagen and Meisner in order to give me that competitive edge. I have been teaching children (ages 5+) and adults performance for ten years, and I would be honored to teach you.

Teaching style:
I take a leveled approach, ensuring that repertoire and vocalises are tailored for each person's distinct level of vocal development. I pull from traditional songs, popular songs, musical theater, art songs, and arias. With me you will learn:

-To warm up your mind and body
-How to breathe and align your body more naturally
-Theory and musicianship
-Vocalizing with more freedom
-Repertoire and performance techniques

I have also had extensive experience working with children and adults who are neurologically atypical, and am happy to work with students and parents to make necessary accommodations or try different things. What is most important to me is that you deepen your passion for singing and/or performance, learn healthy vocal production, and build a foundation for long-term practice habits.
