BIO: My name is Abbi and I’m a vocalist, guitarist, pianist, and songwriter. I’m a graduate of the University of North Texas, where I majored in Jazz Voice. I have extensive experience singing - solo and in ensembles - in multiple genres, playing piano and guitar, self-accompanying, songwriting, touring, and recording, and I’d love to pass along what I know to help you on your own musical journey!
I’m originally from Burbank, California, and as the child of professional musician parents, I had musical training from a young age, starting with piano lessons at age four. I also sang in the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, an ensemble that regularly performs with LA’s top professional classical musicians, and attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), where I student directed a vocal jazz group. I picked up guitar from a young age, when my dad - who is a professional guitarist - started teaching me. I was also selected to participate in the GRAMMY Camp - Jazz Session, a national program for high school students, and the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, which involved a performance at the historic Monterey Jazz Festival and a tour to Japan. I am also a three-time YoungArts winner.
Currently, I'm an active member of the professional studio singing community here, as well as the live music scene, where I perform my original music.
During my time at UNT, I sang with the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band, a historic, GRAMMY-winning group, and toured with them to New York, where we placed as Finalists in the inaugural Jack Rudin Jazz Championship at Lincoln Center. I also sang with the UNT Jazz Singers, which won two DownBeat Student Music Awards while I was in the group.
