BIO: Hello! I am Colleen Mallette a voice teacher, coach, international touring soprano, comedienne & author. I have had a distinguished career teaching in two different universities as well as guiding children through a creative process in residencies across the US through Texas Commission on the Arts and Mid America Arts Alliance. I’ve been fortunate enough to present over 400 performances of comedy recital “The Lamaze School of Singing” at Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Hyde Park Theatre Frontera Fest winning” Best of Week” and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. My specialty in Grad School at North Texas State University was Vocal Performance as well as Science of the Voice. I believe singing is a body, mind, spirit experience. I enjoy guiding all levels of singers from young children (ages 9-13) High School students Musical Theatre and Classical and have also had clients who perform as rock artists. Many of my students have gone on to work for Sony, tour with opera companies, & become singer/songwriters. If a student has a goal and is willing to work on certain prescribed exercises that I will customize for your voice, you CAN become more proficient. Additionally, I have a good success rate with troubled and fatigued voices if the student commits deep to change. I believe my years in front of an orchestra as a soloist and doing roles and being on the road gives me street cred that can really help a performer. One of my reviews with the Dallas Observer says I have ‘rapier wit and a mesmerizing voice.” I love to help students get ready for auditions, selecting repertoire and working on stage technique. My goal for your first lesson is that you will come away inspired with effective warmups and items to focus on.
